Platform-Backed Warranty Terms
1. What this warranty is
1.1 Where a seller offers a warranty on a quote and the buyer accepts that quote, Go Find Part (as Merchant of Record) provides the buyer with a platform-backed warranty on the goods for the stated period. The seller is back-to-back liable to Go Find Part for honouring it.
1.2 This warranty is a contract between Go Find Part and the buyer. The buyer deals only with Go Find Part; the seller’s identity and any seller-side terms are not part of the buyer’s warranty.
2. What this warranty is not - the statutory floor is preserved
2.1 This warranty is an enhanced, additional protection. It does not reduce, replace, or limit the buyer’s statutory rights, nor the seller’s standing obligations to Go Find Part under the Seller Terms (which survive delivery for the applicable limitation period).
2.2 In particular, where goods are wrong, faulty, or not as described on arrival, the buyer’s existing recourse is unchanged and applies regardless of whether a warranty was purchased:
- the conformity / dispute process (a short window after delivery), and
- the returns process.
2.3 Buying no added warranty does not mean “no recourse”. It means only that no enhanced warranty layer was added; the statutory floor in section 2.2 still applies in full.
2.4 Statutory interaction. This warranty is additive only. It operates in addition to and does not exclude, restrict, or otherwise limit any right or remedy the buyer has under the Sale of Goods Act 1979, the Supply of Goods and Services Act 1982, or the Consumer Rights Act 2015 (which does not apply to purchases under the Buyer Terms, as the Platform is B2B-only — see Buyer Terms clause 1.3), nor the seller’s obligations under the Seller Terms. In a B2B sale the parties contract on business terms, but nothing in these warranty terms purports to override a non-excludable statutory right. Where the warranty and the statutory floor overlap, the buyer may rely on whichever gives the greater protection.
3. Warranty types
3.1 Seller-backed - Go Find Part brokers honour through the seller (repair, replacement, or refund) and stands behind it as a backstop if the seller does not perform within the service levels in section 6.
3.2 Manufacturer - honour is routed to the original manufacturer’s warranty (Go Find Part facilitates the RMA). Go Find Part remains the buyer’s single point of contact and backstop if the manufacturer route fails within the service levels.
3.3 None - no enhanced warranty (see section 2.3).
3.4 For a manufacturer warranty the buyer is never left without recourse: if the manufacturer RMA route fails or is not actioned within the section 6 service levels, Go Find Part’s backstop in section 6.3 applies exactly as it does for a seller-backed warranty.
4. Duration
4.1 The warranty period is one of the offered tiers (30 or 90 days, or 6, 12, 24, or 36 months) selected by the seller at quote time.
4.2 The period starts on the buyer’s acceptance of delivery and the expiry date is fixed at that point and shown to the buyer.
4.3 Warranties longer than 12 months must be manufacturer-backed. A seller cannot self-back a warranty beyond 12 months; longer cover must rest on a manufacturer’s warranty that Go Find Part facilitates.
4.4 Available warranty types are gated by the goods’ condition (new, OEM, refurbished, or used). New and OEM goods are eligible for any warranty type; refurbished goods are eligible for seller-backed cover up to 12 months; used goods are eligible for seller-backed cover up to 90 days.
5. What is covered and excluded
5.1 Covered. The functional failure of the goods to operate to their rated specification under normal use and within their rated operating conditions, where that failure occurs within the warranty period and is not attributable to an excluded cause in section 5.2.
5.2 Excluded. This warranty does not cover: (a) fair wear and tear, and consumable or designated wear parts; (b) misuse, abuse, accident, neglect, or operation outside the goods’ rated conditions; (c) unauthorised modification, repair, or installation not carried out in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions; (d) damage in transit or non-conformity on arrival (addressed by the conformity / returns process in section 2.2, not this warranty); (e) cosmetic damage that does not affect function; and (f) failure caused by the buyer’s own equipment, inputs, or operating environment.
6. Making a claim and service levels
6.1 The buyer opens a warranty claim through Go Find Part at any time up to the warranty expiry date, providing the stated reason and any evidence requested.
6.2 The seller is notified and must acknowledge within 3 business days and resolve within 14 calendar days. Resolution is repair, replacement, refund, or - for manufacturer warranties - a tracked manufacturer RMA.
6.3 If the seller does not honour within the service levels, Go Find Part makes the buyer whole (the “backstop”) and recovers the corresponding amount from the seller under the Seller Terms. The buyer’s remedy is never contingent on the seller’s response.
6.4 The buyer must provide a description of the fault and any reasonably requested supporting evidence (for example, photographs). The backstop remedy is, at Go Find Part’s election, a refund of the order value (section 7.1) by reversal of the original payment where it is still within the payment processor’s refund window, or an equivalent account credit where it is not - or, where appropriate and agreed, a repair or replacement.
7. Limitations
7.1 Go Find Part’s aggregate liability under this warranty is limited to the price paid by the buyer for the affected goods - the order value, inclusive of Go Find Part’s margin and VAT (the amount required to make the buyer whole). This is the basis on which the section 6.3 backstop is calculated.
7.2 To the fullest extent permitted by law, Go Find Part is not liable for indirect, consequential, or economic loss - including loss of profit, downtime, or production loss - arising from a defect in the goods.
7.3 Nothing in this section limits liability that cannot be limited by law, nor the buyer’s statutory rights preserved by section 2. This limitation framework is consistent with the Seller Terms and Buyer Terms.
